This Bighorn Sheep image was made as I hiked the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument of New Mexico. The Rio Grande river is the central feature of this wonderful national monument. The Bighorn Sheep were eradicated from New Mexico around the turn of the 20th century. Since the 1940’s they have been slowly reintroduced into their previous habitat around the state. While on this winter evening hike along the river, I chanced upon a large herd and the evening light provided this image.
